Specialties

Currently, there are 6 distinctive sub-disciplines: gastric cancer and precancerous diseases specialization, small intestinal difficult disease specialization, interventional digestive endoscopy specialization, gastrointestinal dysfunction specialization, hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease specialization, and inflammatory bowel disease specialization. Particularly in the clinical diagnosis, treatment, and basic research of early gastrointestinal tumors and challenging small intestinal diseases, the department operates at the forefront of both national and international levels. The diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal endoscopy, and the treatments of severe pancreatitis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and other chronic liver diseases with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine are unique. We have rich experience in clinical diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

In 2013, the Department of Gastroenterology made history by being the first domestically and internationally to apply robotic smart capsule endoscopy to diagnose and treat challenging small intestinal diseases, including "chronic abdominal pain, diarrhea, and unexplained bleeding." This achievement was presented at both the Chinese Medical Association Digestive Disease Annual Conference and the National Digestive Disease Conference of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. In 2019, we obtained a national patent for this innovation and were invited to deliver a special report at Digestive Disease Week (DDW) in the United States. Our groundbreaking work was recognized with the DDW Outstanding Paper Award.
