Introduction

The Department of Radiology of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital holds esteemed national and local recognition, serving as National Key Clinical Specialty, Shanghai "Top Priority" Clinical Key Specialty, and Shanghai Key Medical Discipline. Additionally, the department serves as National Continuing Education Base for Imaging Medicine under the Ministry of Health and Shanghai Resident and Specialist Training Base. Furthermore, The Imaging Medicine Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Oriental Interventional Imaging Research Institute and Nerve Intervention Center are affiliated with the department. It houses master's degree, doctoral degree and postdoctoral research stations in imaging and nuclear medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Professor Zou Zhong, a pioneer in diagnostic radiology in China, serves as the inaugural director of the department.

The department has achieved integrated management of both the Xuhui and Lingang campuses, boasting advanced and comprehensive medical equipment. This includes 14 magnetic resonance machines (comprising 2 5.0T and 12 3.0T machines), 19 multi-row spiral CT machines (including 2 320-row CT machines, 3 256-row CT machines, and 2 Dual Source CT machines), as well as 5 DSA angiography machines (comprising 2 double flat plates, 2 large flat plates, and 1 small flat plate). Additionally, the department is equipped with 16 DR machines and 2 digital mammography machines. Its laboratory instruments are also fully equipped, featuring microCT, 7.0 T microMR, and 9.4 T microMR systems.

Specialties

The department serves two primary clinical functions: diagnostic imaging and interventional therapy, with a dedicated interventional ward consisting of 46 beds. It operates through seven major sections: outpatient radiology, emergency radiology, CT, MRI, DSA, orthopedics building, and the interventional ward. Within these sections, it encompasses five sub-disciplines: neurofacial, musculoskeletal, joints, chest and heart, and abdominopelvic, reflecting its comprehensive approach to patient care and treatment.
