On the afternoon of May 26, a delegation from IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital of Milan visited Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital, marking a new milestone in Sino-Italian medical cooperation.

The delegation was led by Dr. Pietro Ballotta, Director of Strategic Development and External Relations, and Prof. Alaide Chieffo, Director of Research in the Interventional Cardiology Unit and President of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions. They were accompanied by representatives from Cento Partner Sino-Italian Innovation Center and Shanghai Municipal Health Commission.

The visit began with a warm welcoming address delivered by Professor Yin Shankai, President of Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital, alongside Academician Jia Weiping. Following the opening remarks, Professor Zheng Yuanyi, Vice President of the hospital, provided a comprehensive introduction to the hospital’s history, clinical specialties, and research accomplishments. Dr. Ballotta then presented an overview of IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, highlighting its commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and translational research.

Following the presentations, the delegation toured the hospital’s History Exhibition Hall, Shanghai Diabetes Institute, and National Center for Orthopaedics, gaining insights into the hospital’s specialized capabilities and innovation platforms.

This visit laid a solid foundation for deepening international partnership and promoting high-quality development in healthcare and medical science between China and Italy.
