Imaging Medicine Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Imaging Medicine Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is affiliated with Department of Radiology of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital. The Department of Radiology holds designations as National Key Clinical Specialties, Shanghai "Top Priority" Key Clinical Specialties, and Shanghai Key Medical Discipline. Additionally, the Department serves as National Continuing Education Base for Imaging Medicine under the Ministry of Health and Shanghai Resident and Specialist Training Base. Furthermore, Shanghai Oriental Interventional Imaging Research Institute functions as an affiliated unit of the Imaging Medicine Institute, as well as master's degree, doctoral degree and postdoctoral research station in imaging and nuclear medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The institute has achieved integrated management of Xuhui and Lingang campuses, boasting advanced and comprehensive medical equipments. Including 14 magnetic resonance machines (including 2 5.0T and12 3.0T), 19 multi-row spiral CT machines (comprising 2 320-row CT machines, 3 256-row CT machines, and 2 Dual Source CT machines), as well as 5 DSA angiography machines (including 2 double flat plates, 2 large flat plates, and 1 small flat plate). Additionally, the institute is also equipped with 16 DR machines and 2 digital mammography machines. Its laboratory instruments are also fully equipped, featuring microCT, 7.0 T microMR and 9.4 T microMR.

The institute comprises 167 staff members, including 25 with senior titles and 36 with intermediate titles. It boasts 5 doctoral supervisors, 8 master’s supervisors, as well as 17 doctoral students and 35 master students. A total of 177 graduate students have undergone training, with 122 completing master's degrees, 55 earning doctorates, and 9 pursuing post-doctoral studies.

In terms of research endeavors, the institute has undertaken 89 projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, with an additional 20 projects currently under research, supported by a total research funding exceeding 10 million yuan. Over the past five years, the institute has garnered 12 prizes for science and technology progress, including 1 second prize for National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 second prizes for Chinese Medical National Science and Technology Award, 1 first prize for Science and Technology Award by the Ministry of Education, and 6 first and second prizes for Shanghai Science and Technology Award. Furthermore, over the past three years, the institute has annually published more than 25 papers included in SCI journals and has overseen the editing of 4 monographs.

The Institute has established enduring academic exchanges and collaborations with the Neurointervention Center of Mayo Clinic. Simultaneously, it maintains close academic ties with internationally renowned universities such as Lund University Hospital in Sweden, St. Rafael Hospital of Milan University in Italy, Epondorf Hospital of Hamburg University in Germany, University Hospital of Southern California in the United States, Seoul National University in Korea, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in the United States, University of North Carolina School of Medicine in the United States, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and University of New South Wales in Australia, engaging in periodic academic exchanges. Additionally, the Institute has collaborated with MicroPort NeuroTech to develop the world's first and only cerebral covered vascular stent (Willis), successfully translating and disseminating clinical outcomes.
