On the afternoon of September 19, the second session of the Standardized Patient (SP) Training Series—the Special Competency Training Course—was successfully held in Classroom 408 of the Teaching Building, with 19 SP volunteers participating.

The session began with Ms. Fei Xiaoyun from the Practical Training Center leading the volunteers in a brief review of the key content from the first session. This included the basic concepts, functions, applications, and responsibilities of SPs, as well as the fundamental framework and sequence for medical history taking.

The training then focused on two main modules: "How to Quickly Memorize a Case Summary" and "How to Conduct Evaluative Feedback." Using the typical case and script of “Acute Pancreatitis,” Ms. Fei divided the volunteers into four groups for practical exercises. She guided them step by step in mastering key competencies such as understanding case roles, analyzing case summaries, and memorizing keywords, while repeatedly reinforcing and consolidating their acting techniques.

During the simulated consultation session, the volunteers immersed themselves fully, realistically recreating doctor-patient consultation scenarios. On-site interaction was lively, and the atmosphere was enthusiastic. As the training drew to a close, Ms. Fei provided specialized instruction on their feedback and evaluation techniques, with particular emphasis on explaining the "Sandwich Rule" in SP training.

This training session has equipped the volunteers with the foundational core competencies required to become qualified Standardized Patients. Moving forward, our hospital will continue to advance the SP training series, continuously solidifying the volunteers’ professional foundation. This training will be progressively applied to routine teaching, training, and assessment activities, providing robust support for enhancing the quality of medical education and talent cultivation.
