The XXIII World Congress of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (IFOS 2026 World Congress) was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from September 9 to 13, 2026. Seven members of the Department of ENT and HN Surgery attended the congress and presented seven research projects. Three abstracts presented by Professor Hui Wang, Dr. Shujian Huang, and PhD candidate Hongfu Zhang were selected as Notable Abstracts, showcasing the team’s latest advances in research and clinical translation.

One of the leading international congresses in the field, IFOS 2026 brought together more than 7,500 participants under the theme “Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, and Global Diversity.” The programme featured 2,063 presentations across 52 scientific sessions, covering a broad range of specialties, including otology, audiology, vestibular disorders, cochlear and auditory implants, sleep-disordered breathing, rhinology, head and neck surgery, laryngology, and paediatric otorhinolaryngology.

The team’s independently developed automated repositioning chair, novel auditory electrophysiological recording technology for intraoperative monitoring, and other technologies under development attracted considerable interest and discussion among international experts. 

During the congress, the team also met with 23 leading international experts, exchanging views on preparations for the upcoming Bárány Society meeting and the development of an expert consensus on the team’s semicircular canal occlusion technique. The discussions also opened new opportunities for academic collaboration and international engagement.

Building on the feedback from the congress, the team will continue to advance clinical research and technology validation, while strengthening international collaboration in otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery.
